To me personaly, Face off is Jimin's emotion when he got backstabed, betrayed "("I give all the money, all my heart") and he finaly see the truth of someone behind " the mask" that they used to wears before him. On his vlive he revealed that relationship is difficult and some of them left him for no good. This songs portayed how he feeling low and "don't want to be sober "
    And thats how this story goes.. Jimin "FACE" is his diary in chronological order. From Face Off to Set Me Free.. hiw he finally overcome, move on, more stronger and become a better version. Please react to all his " FACE" album. 'Im sure you will more understand. I would like to hear more from you about that.

  15. I think the song portrays that Jimin might have been betrayed by someone once close to him, hence their 'face/mask is off', but the hurt and anger is too much to bear when sober. Maybe that's why he would rather be drunk.

  21. snd3227; I totally agree with what you said. This song is about when he discovered that he was betrayed by someone who he trusted and loved very much in 2020 – April 2022. The whole album expresses chronologically how he felt about the loss of a trusted person( possibly a lover since he said that he gave money and heart) and how he recovered in 2022 just before the 2022 Las Vegas concert which he said in a few interviews. I assume, the amusement park melody drops to express the end of a good time and starting of a hellish time in the beginning. Now, looking back I can see who this trusted person is! Yes, Jimin was angry. Wouldn't u angry if you were betrayed by someone you trusted/loved that much? He wanted to forget the pain so he goes binge drinking but feels empty inside. The rest album is about how he moans about the loss and finally recovers from it. That's my take and I was able to confirm it again and again with careful observations reviewing RUN BTS during this time period. He probably learned big time about life through this experience and that's how all of us grow and become an adult. Furthermore, becoming a true artist for Jimin. This album is remarkably well done. Those painful feelings could've been gone in vain if he didn't make this album.

I saw Jimin as betrayed by someone who he had consequently pushed away, and when he was drunk, Jimin got back together with this person (for one night at their party?} and was sorry he did something he wouldn't have done if he wasn't drunk. Now he has to be drunk so he doesn't have to think about it or face it because he doesn't care about the person anymore and maybe they remind him of what happened to try to prove otherwise. I'm sure there are more interpretations as well.

    This whole album is fire. Every song becomes my favorite when I listen to it. Can't decide which I like the most. Different moods.💜👀

  24. Jimin tells us exactly what this song is about so we don't have to wonder or speculate (Unless that's your thing, and what you enjoy). Basically, in Face-Off he had friends who did him dirty. (So the title could have been a lot more stronger. In the 2nd verse he says, "Trusting a person is the start of a terrible nightmare". He's talking about someone other than himself. Next verse, "Gave you all THE money, gave you all MY heart." Clearly this is a specific person or persons he's referencing. Again he himself said on more than one occasion, he had a falling out with his friends, not friend, he specifically said friends. I loved how you pointed out how a masquerade party is to hide or disguise a person's identity. The first time Jimin talks about being drunk here, it's not a literal drinking it's figurative. He must have been drunk or not in his right mind when it came to things that were happening with those so-called friends. Although this song does reference drinking, there's a lot more going on than him being drunk so you go to look deeper. Just because it's Jimin he's not always talking about insecurities. It's amazing how that's people's automatic knee jerk answer to everything Jimin.

I like tour reactions as musicians you bring a different dimension in your reactions, because you have interesting real family lives and the difference in your ages brings a balance into your reactions. He said he is facing off from himself and it's going to break him, choosing the side of him that's real. You hit the nail on the head.
    We all know about Jimin's male and female side. He is choosing and he doesn't care and will live with his choice. I believe you understood his lyrics. I've watched the BTS journey from 2013 until now April 2023, Three times and am still learning. Jimin is a very intelligent Artist and a deep thinker. The best is yet to come from all members of BTS . Their individual talents are amazing. I also love your interest in all the Guitar work as I love the Guitar. Thankyou BTS Vintage Army 🇦🇺 Australia.

  33. Enjoy BTS More has so many videos, lyric videos, live performances, interviews, etc. with English subtitles. You might want to try look on her channel first, because she uses sources that are ARMY approved and accurate lyrics. And she only does BTS and the members' music.

  39. yes you are right , i think so. he wanna be honest, mature, grown up. He is talking his struggles, feelings when he was alone in corona time. face off when take your role down, been honest pure man inside his instruction, you cant be that in bts earlier. and set me free part 2 he is free, after military they dont have contract anymore. so they they can be individual and as group what they really wanna. no one cant stop they now. this time is best time in Bts history, they told to us what they wanna tell. hard time but I think they deserve this time to be inmilitary to know who they are in real life. and its time to heal, find, search new thing

  42. Jimin mentioned in his Suchwita interview that the key word in Face Off was a curse word, which clearly meant f**k. I think the title could also be interpreted as f**k off!

    And on a literal note, we often refer to taking our faces off when we remove make up, which Jimin does wear professionally.

  43. It’s about him the whole album is about him. During the pandemic he did get drunk more – cause they had nothing to do, nothing to work toward, they were isolated like the rest of us. He’s said he felt depressed and lonely and drank too much – his teammates noticed but allowed him to work through it (at least that’s what he and Suga talked about on Suchwita #7) so he wanted his fans to know that he had the same kind of problems they did during that time. It did make him mad, at the whole unfairness of it, at himself for sinking into that pit of despair and depression, at himself for drowning it in alcohol – thank goodness he snapped out of it! The whole album is his emotional journey through those 2 years he said to listen to whole album like a story from beginning to end to understand his journey through it.
