(It's a festival!) I wasn't aware of him before this collaboration, but F.HERO is a well known rapper in Thailand. His rap being all in Thai made his flow really interesting. They added some native instruments when they recorded his part of the song in Thailand. The lyrics in the rap section even mention Som Tam (spicy Thai papaya salad). As in life, the ingredients are spicy and sweet, but you have to crush everything in a mortar to bring out the flavor. : ) This one was filmed at Yokohama Arena on the second of two nights, so everyone knew to bring a towel to wave, or to get one from the merch stand before the show started. BTW, Su is 22 years old, 23 in December. Moa turned 21 in July. tl;dr: Don't use compilations for BABYMETAL, we have a better solution.
Please don't rely solely on videos that are on YouTube (mainly compilations); they're not meant to be used for reactions as the mix of concerts and generally bad editing can make it confusing for those new to BABYMETAL. Also, you won't get the full BABYMETAL experience with these. Some people think they are safer for reactions, but they're not. They may get past the bot initially, but you still stand the chance of your video being blocked later and the possibility of having copyright strikes.
You should note though, that your video will almost definitely be blocked if these are included in your video and that you will need to do what we call "link & sync". You mentioned their hand movements in the choreo and yes they are those used in traditional Thai dance I believe. They have been doing a lot with their hands (I think Moa even mentioned in an interview about hand movements in the choreo and how they had worked hard to get everything right for the songs on this album). For 'Shanti Shanti Shanti' they have some very Indian inspired choreo and hand movements.

Great to see you back with BABYMETAL! It took me a few listens to get used to the idea that they included a Thai rapper (which made me aware of my own closed mindedness), but it quickly became apparent that it‘s just an immensely fun song. It‘s meant to be a party song, and how could you not feel an urge to sing and dance watching this? I have only been at their smaller shows in Europe so far, I can‘t even imagine how insane it must be at those huge shows in Japan. I don‘t know about the specific hand movements you mentioned, but it would be totally typical for BABYMETAL / Mikiko to incorporate some traditional Thai dance moves into the choreography. The song is about Papaya salad, they hired a Thai rapper, there‘s a typical Thai instrumental playing in the background during the second half of his part – it would totally make sense to feature some Thai dance moves as well. As it‘s often the case, the lyrics might not be as superficial as they may seem at first glance. The colourful mix of sweet and spicy ingredients in Papaya salad are supposed to symbolize the various ups and downs in life, I believe. I guess that was a rhetorical question but being a marathoner myself I feel qualified to answer that anyway: training, training and then more training. The song is basically a celebration of the variety of summer festivals in Japan. Despite being an imported fruit (it's native to the Americas), Papaya is a popular fruit eaten at those festivals, from what I understand.
Looks like your Japanese partner is not really into BabyMetal. She does not show much enthusiasm, just giving you company out of politeness. My daughter is 27 much older than these girls and she’s Japanese ( half) I’m a foreigner but my kids can’t even speak English so I do know quite a lo their etiquettes.

日本人は、あの振り付けを見て直ぐに盆踊りを連想しますが、タイ人の中にはあのダンスを見てタイの伝統的なダンスを連想した人もいたらしいので、まんざらご主人の感想も誤っていないのではないでしょうか。F.HEROがタイ人ですので、製作者はその辺のウケを狙ってるんじゃないかと思います。
