  1. That's the one thing I've never really understood…everyone makes fun of the way she dances/moves yet Mikiko admitted Su picks up on the steps faster than pretty much anyone. She hits her marks, all of that but still people make fun.

    Always nice to see the Nakamoto sisters together…I wonder if they sing together or not now? There was an interview by one of them, possibly Himeka someone correct me if I'm wrong, and they talked about that they grew up with music in their house all the time, Their dad being a musician I guess that's to be expected, but it's been a part of their life for basically ALL their lives. Before she was singing, Su did modeling as an even teenier version than on this vid, she was basically a baby, so she's been at this nearly all of her life in some form.

    And you can REALLY hear the growth in her voice in the span of 2 years or so in this vid…not just tonally but control. Little flat sometimes but that's ok, but the speed in which her voice control came together is pretty damn amazing. Altho she and Himeka sound quite a lot alike (speaking and singing) Su just overpowers her in the later songs when they're together.

    As far as the Acting goes…they're all trained in the arts in general: Acting, Singing, Dancing, Modeling, even instruments I believe (or the basics..I may be wrong on this one) The IDOL industry is based on all of these things…especially the acting. All of these girls/young women are playing a part on stage (for the most part) so the acting helps them learn to be the character they are on stage, why a lot of them go into acting.

    Nice to see you all back! Hope you get everything put together soon. MAGZ..allergy meds dude, nasal spray works a bit faster. Hang in there, pollen season will be slowing down here pretty soon. I get up with a yellow tint over my vehicle (and everything else) all the time, granted I live back in the woods but hang in there.

  2. I don't know if it helps but there about 4-5 videos where Su, Moa, and Yui do commentary for their old videos like Doki Doki Morning, Headbanger, ijime damme zettai, and a couple more so yea Lvt, Magz I hope someone sends you those videos 😁🤘

  3. As others already told you, when there were only 2 girls on stage it was SU with her sister Himeka with their duo called Tweens!

    I also find some of their outfits at ASH a little bit inappropriate, considering the girls age. Somebody told me it's normal for Idols, but there were girls 8 years old or even younger ffs… I'm really glad Sakura Gakuin wasn't like that!!

  4. Nice reaction. Sometimes it's hard to think of Su as anything but the metal in Babymetals vocals. But here we get to see Su being too kawaii. I wonder what the teachers of ASH thought of this crops of students. Su, Himeka, Riho and Mariri all together in the same school. Simply amazing. Is this a common thing in Japan? I just imagine the teacher who said they wouldn't make it has been fired by now. There's always at least one teacher who's the A hole of the bunch. They have their favorites and no matter how hard the students work they don't see it. I would imagine she cringes a least a little. You know Su knows every spot where she feels is a mistake. Su's a perfectionist and even does goofy perfectly. Su and many of these girls have a lot in common with MJ. Their whole life is on film for the whole world to see. It says a lot that Su gave up the Jpop idol life for metal. How hard it must have been for Babymetal leave all their friends behind and go on a world tour. Most idols never leave Japan. The world is a better place because they did.

So when reactors look at SU-METAL (say around Road of Resistance – Live in Japan time) and ask how a 16/17 yo girl can so command a stage – you now understand by that point she had over 10 years of modelling (yes she modelled), sing, dancing and acting on professional stages.. look at the Karen's Girl live show. This is the 20,000 person stadium BM would later perform in and those 3 little girls (Su aged just 10) were already owning a stage back then.

  8. The song Himeka & Su- sang at 7:05, was a hit song by Finger 5 (フィンガー5), "個人授業 (Kojin Jugyo, The private lessons)" in 70's. It's a little bit exciting song like LVT must get more angry, haha. Finger 5 was a Japanese pop group formed with the Jackson 5 motif. The track used in the video is a mixed version covered by Misono in 2006.

    The song Su- sang at 35:26, is ”早瀬川の唄 (Hayasegawa no uta, A Song of Hayasegawa river) from Japanese old anime, "ガンバの冒険 (Ganba no bouken, Adventures of Gamba)" in 70's. However, the music is arranged, based on Japanese Okinawan folk songs, "島唄 (Shima uta)". I love Su-'s vocal of course but sound of Sanshin (三線) is very good emotionally. It's a musical, "Adventurers" and mice as the main characters, but it's a sad ending story.

  11. Wonder how many of the people who performed on stage with Su, have it on their resumes. Su could have very easily been a Musical stage actor. I think you can see that Su talent and stage presence was recognized very early. Who noticed that Su's shoes have no laces and who knows why?
    FYI; LVT in Asia the girls wear "Safety Shorts" under their miniskirts for the very reason you would think.

  12. -Every time she is singing in that duo unit the other girl is Himeka Nakamoto, her sister. Himeka later joined Nogizaka46 as an idol, that's one of the most popular pop music units in Japan. Maybe nowadays as she is no longer there it's not like that, but there was a time were Himeka was more known than Suzuka even when she was already leading Babymetal. In the end Babymetal is big, but metal is not as big as mainstream pop.

    -When Su started at Ash she still didn't know of Yui or Moa, but Riho the girl that appeared in Babymetal as Avenger was there with her. Curiously enough when you froze the screen to wonder if Yui was there you froze with a big Riho first plane 😆 23:30 . At that time Riho was considered the most promising girl in the school, Su was behind her and was considered her rival because she is also pretty good it seems. Riho soon after went to lead Morning Musume as its ace. Morning Musume was the biggest band in Japan on the early 2000s, when Riho arrived it was not as big anymore but still, it was pretty big. Riho is still very popular in Japan, when she appeared by surprise with Babymetal in 2019 everyone went crazy.
    Edit: this performance has the three of them, Su, Riho and Himeka 46:05 Riho is light blue, at the center, dancing better than anyone else.

    -I'm not sure what the musical is about, I know she is playing the little sister of one of those guys because he is calling her imouto. The first song she is singing in that musical is Shima Uta (Island Song). The instrument that sounds like a banjo it's an okinawan shamisen, a traditional instrument from the Ryukyu Islands. Shima Uta its a very sad song, a tribute to the 200.000 persons that died during the battle of Okinawa in the World War.

  15. Just listen to Su's voice starting at 39:22. Tick off all the pro techniques (yes, of course, just coming off Karen Girl's). From the specific of how she holds the note at the end of a phrase clear and steady and then brings on the vibrato, to the general of how much euphony there is in her singing. And the apparent ease and joy of her delivery. Fantastic.

  20. What happened to 2008-2009 was Karen' Girl's. I presume they couldn't footage of that. That girl at the beginning she was doing duets with is her older sister, Himeka

    Su looked so comfortable on stage at such an early age, no doubt due to her training and personality both. All the footage of her and the other girls just adds to the attraction of Babymetal!

  22. I missed you guys were you on tour? she was born on 12/20/1997. so she would still be 9 yrs old at this time. Fyi: her father was a guitarist for a metal group called Hooligans. She also sang with her sister Himeka Nakamoto.was born April 13, 1996 (age 25 years) .

  23. Hi there. I couldn't really catch a lot of the dialogue of that musical, but the actors were not impersonating bears but actually mice or rats (it's the same word in Japanese for both, 'nezumi'), and I guess they were on a ship and searching for a new home of sorts. The first song was some Okinawa style minyo (traditional folk song), and if the melody sounded weird, that's how those songs are supposed to be, they are following a Japanese scale.

  24. The musical is an adaptation of the children's book "The Adventurers: Gamba and His 15 Friends", written in 1972. They are all playing rats trying to save their island from a clan of weasels. I like that it took you 8 minutes of watching the musical to ask "why are they wearing ears?!"
    It is a strange thing in Japan that 90% of theatre audiences are women, so a lot of shows are full of handsome young men, usually from idol groups. Su was the only female in the whole cast of this production!

  35. Tween was Suzuka with her older sister Himeka in their ASH days. Himeka didn’t join SG, but became a member of Morning Misume. She is now a mental health counsellor

  37. You almost had it. Su's birthday is December 20th (1997). However, December 23rd is also significant to Sakura Gakuin. That's Hinata's birthday (1998). December is the month with the most Sakura Gakuin birthdays (three of which are on December 1st). October is the only month with none, but we can dedicate that month to BabyMetal. 😀

    June has several as well, including Ayaka's on the 18th, and Yui's on the 20th.

  39. I think there was a lot of drill in Su's life. But it was definitely worth it – at least for the audience. It is better not to question that and I hope she had a halfway normal childhood.

  40. That actually wasn't the first video of her at Acting School of Hiroshima. There was one from 2006. LVT would love that one she's wearing like a fairie or angel costume with wings. It's very age appropriate. The video skips 2008 to 2010. That was Karen Girls. I guess they didn't want to include Karen Girls video for whatever reason.

    'It's crazy how it says Actors school but it's mostly singing'. Well, that is in english. That is just for decoration. Nobody can read it.

  44. There are a lot of good singers who appear in audition shows at this age in Japan.　These children surprise me with their singing skills that are as good as adults.
    Su is different from these children in some ways. Many children who are good singers imitate the singing style of adults and sing in a mature way.
    However, Su sings in a way that is unusual for a child these days, and has a natural voice. and her ability to express herself in a way that moves people's hearts is her charm.
